Meeting at Evira, Helsinki, on 19th January, 2016
The Foundry Sand project activities and results of the summer 2015 composting tests were presented at Finnish Food Safety Authority, Evira, on the 19th of January 2016 in Helsinki. Discussions of composting end-product requirements and limit values in Finland were discussed. Representatives from Evira, AX-LVI Consulting Ltd and Meehanite Technology Ltd participated to the meeting.

The field scale composting experiments during winter time have started in December 2015 in Koukkujärvi solid waste management site, Nokia. The winter tests are carried out during December 2015 - June 2016.

Project meeting about the results of the first composting experiment, 25th of November, 2015
The results of the first composting experiment from Summer - Autumn 2015 were presented in the project meeting on the 25th of November, 2015. Also the results of the laboratory scale experiments performed by University of Helsinki were presented. Aalto University presented their Master's thesis project about the quality control of foundry sand sampling for foundries.
UUMA2 seminar on the 10th of September 2015
UUMA2 seminar was organised in Finnish Environment Institute SYKE in Helsinki. The seminar was also showed via Internet as a webinar. People from Meehanite Technology Ltd and AX-LVI Consulting Ltd participated to the UUMA2 webinar.

Project meeting and visit to the composting site 30th June, 2015
Project meeting was arranged on the 30th of June, 2015. The meeting started with a visit to the composting site in Koukkujärvi solid waste management site in Nokia. The composting site and field scale test heaps were presented to the project partners. The meeting continued at the office of AX Consulting in Tampere.

The field scale experiments of composting surplus foundry sand have started in Koukkujärvi solid waste management site, Nokia, in June 2015. The estimated ending time of the first composting experiment is in September-October 2015.
New Dissemination Materials for the Foundry Sand Project
The new dissemination materials for the Foundry Sand project are now released. The project has a new leaflet, poster, roll-up and on-site panel that are used for the project dissemination in meetings, seminars and other events. On-site panels are used at the field experiment sites to give information about the project.
Experimentation permission for project's field scale experiments
The State Regional Administrative Agency (AVI) granted permission for experimentation for Foundry Sand Project. The field scale composting experiments in Koukkujärvi solid waste management site will start in June 2015.
